Byron “Mitch” Boler is a professional drummer/percussionist/educator based out of Indianapolis, IN. Since the age of 3, Byron has had a genuine passion for music, that was instilled in him by his father, Maurice. He spent middle school and high school playing drum set and percussion for Jazz Band, Pep Band, Show-Choir, Concert Band, School Musicals, and other endeavors but decided to focus more on drum set when he began studying Music Business at Indiana State University in Fall of 2012.

Although Byron ended up graduating with his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminology in 2017, the time spent practicing, studying with Dr. Jimmy Finnie and Dr. Todd Gallagher while playing in different ISU ensembles such as Steel Band, Jazz Combos, and Gospel Choir helped Byron build a solid foundation of gigging chops, locked in pocket, and musical creativity.

Over the last 5 years, Byron has been gigging heavily (and still actively) in the Midwest, East Coast, and South with Indianapolis based acts Huckleberry Funk (R&B/Soul), 800 Lb Gorilla (Electronic/Jam-Band), Django Knight (Blues/Acid Rock), and his own group .Mansa (Jazz/Hip Hop/Neo-Soul). Byron also works as a hired gun for a few local churches and corporate/wedding bands. Byron currently uses Tama Drums, Zildjian Cymbals, Vater Drumsticks, and Roland Electronics.

Outside of playing drums, Byron runs his own online drum shop known as “Mitch’s Drum Shop”. Started from his college apartment in Terre Haute around 2016, Mitch’s Drum Shop now is based in Indianapolis with a consistent base of customers coming from all over the world! Mitch’s Drum Shop can be found on Reverb/OfferUp/Facebook Marketplace. Between running Mitch’s Drum Shop and gigging 15-20 times per month, Byron holds a large regional influence on drumming and drum gear around Indianapolis and the entire Midwest!

Byron has also and currently works as a music teacher for Kindergarten through Elementary school, sharing his experience, passion, and knowledge to grades Kindergarten all the way up through 7th.
